Planning tool

Energy cost calculator.

Estimate the electricity cost of running your display, using the numbers you enter for bulb count, wattage, hours and your own utility rate.

This is an estimate based on the numbers you enter below — not a bill guarantee. Real electricity rates, tiered pricing, taxes and actual usage all vary by household and utility.

Use the roofline estimator's bulb count, or your own count.

Set automatically when you choose a bulb type above, or type your own — for example, from the bulb packaging.

For example, 6 hours a night. Up to 24 hours.

We don't assume a rate for you. Check a recent utility bill for your actual $/kWh rate — without it, we can't estimate a cost.

How this is calculated

Every figure below comes directly from what you entered above:

  • Total wattage = number of bulbs × watts per bulb
  • Daily kWh = (total wattage × hours per day) ÷ 1000
  • Monthly kWh = daily kWh × 30 days
  • Cost = kWh × your electricity rate

Nothing is looked up on your behalf — change any input and the estimate changes with it, and if you leave the rate blank, we don't guess one for you.
