The short version

• This site sets no cookies and runs no advertising trackers. We do use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views; it does not set cookies and does not follow you across other websites. This site also doesn't send any request to Google Fonts or any other third-party font service — our two fonts are hosted locally, as files that are part of the site itself.
• Our quote request form is connected and working. What you submit is delivered to us through Formspree, a form-delivery service that passes your message to our own email inbox so we can reply.
• Apart from Formspree delivering the form and Vercel hosting the site, we don't pass what you send to anyone — no data broker, no CRM, no advertising network.
• We do not sell personal information, and we never will.

Who we are

Coastline Lights provides Christmas light installation, bistro and string lighting, and commercial lighting installation in Orange County and Los Angeles County, California, and operates this website.

We are a service-area business: the work happens at your property, and we keep no storefront or walk-in premises, so there is no counter address to publish here. Email and phone, given under "Contact us" at the end of this page, are how to reach us about anything in this policy — including a request to see, correct or delete your information. In this policy, "we," "us," and "Coastline Lights" mean that business.

Information we collect

Automatically, from your browser

This website does not set cookies of any kind — no session cookie, no tracking cookie. It loads no advertising pixels and no third-party tracking scripts.

It does run one measurement tool: Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and records the page visited, the referring site, and coarse details such as country, browser and device type. It does not use cookies, does not identify you personally, and does not track you across other websites. Its script is served from this site's own domain, not from a third-party analytics domain.

Our two typefaces (Fraunces and Source Sans 3) are self-hosted as local files, so simply loading a page on this site does not send a request to Google Fonts or any other font provider — a common source of data sharing on other websites that does not happen here.

Any web host inherently processes basic technical connection information (such as IP address and request logs) to deliver a website — this is true of essentially every site on the internet. This website is hosted by Vercel, which processes that technical connection information in order to serve the site. We do not use that kind of data for anything beyond operating the site.

Through the quote request form

The consultation/quote request form on this site asks for: your name, one contact method (phone or email), your property address, your approximate home size, your preferred timeline, and anything else you'd like to tell us, optionally.

How it reaches us: submissions are delivered by Formspree, a form-delivery service acting on our behalf. Formspree receives what you send, forwards it to our own email inbox, and retains a copy in our account there so we can refer back to your enquiry. If you would rather not use the form, you can call or email us directly using the details at the bottom of this page.

We use what you submit to respond to your enquiry and prepare a lighting design and quote for your property. Beyond Formspree delivering it, we do not put these submissions into a customer-relationship management (CRM) platform or a marketing platform. We do not sell this information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers. If that ever changes, we will name the service here and describe what it does with your information.

How we use information

The only use we make of anything submitted through this website is responding to your enquiry: preparing a lighting design, putting together a quote, scheduling a consultation, and communicating with you about the project you asked about. We do not use it to build an advertising profile, and we do not use it to send marketing to people who haven't asked to hear from us.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for advertising purposes, including what California law calls "cross-context behavioral advertising." We don't use a data broker. Apart from Formspree, which delivers the form to us, the only people who see a submission are the people who run Coastline Lights, for the purpose of getting back to you.

Cookies, analytics, and tracking

To restate this plainly, because it's easy for a privacy policy to bury the important part: this website sets no cookies of any kind, and loads no advertising pixels or cross-site tracking scripts. It does run Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you personally or following you to other sites. If we ever add anything that does track individuals, we will update this policy first and follow whatever legal notice or consent requirement applies at that time.

Data retention

Form submissions arrive in our email inbox and are also held in our Formspree account. How long we keep them depends on what came of the enquiry:

• Enquiries that don't become projects — kept for up to 24 months after we last hear from you, then deleted from both the inbox and the Formspree account. Two years covers a full season plus the next one, which is the window in which someone who asked once tends to get back in touch.
• Customers — we keep the project record (your address, the design, and the work carried out) for as long as you are a customer and for up to seven years afterwards, which is how long we keep business and tax records generally. Holding the design is also what lets us carry your plan forward to the next season without measuring your home again.
• Analytics — Vercel Web Analytics holds only aggregate page-view counts. There is nothing in it that identifies you, and nothing to delete on request.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time, and we will do it within 45 days and tell you when it is done. The only thing we may keep after such a request is what we are required to retain for tax or legal reasons.

Children's privacy

This website is intended for adults arranging lighting services for their property. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your privacy rights (California)

Because Coastline Lights serves California residents, this section describes rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Those laws establish — and we intend to honor as a matter of policy, regardless of whether our business size meets every threshold that makes the statute mandatory — the following:

• Right to know — what personal information we've collected about you, and why.
• Right to delete — ask us to delete personal information we've collected from you.
• Right to correct — ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
• Right to opt out — of the sale or sharing of personal information. We don't sell or share information, so there is currently nothing to opt out of — but you're welcome to ask.
• Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we don't collect sensitive personal information (such as Social Security numbers, financial account details, precise geolocation, or health or biometric data) through this website in the first place.
• Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny service, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information in our care. No method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Third-party links

This website links to our Instagram profile. We don't control, and aren't responsible for, the privacy practices of Instagram or any other third-party site we link to. Their own privacy policies govern your use of their platforms.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if our practices change — for example, if we add a tool that handles your information differently, or change how long we keep something. When that happens we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page, and if the change is significant we will say what changed, not quietly swap the text.
